initial user-repository.xml

Submitted by Anonymous on Fri, 2007-04-27 08:41.

I am desperatly trying to figure out how to set up some initial admin accounts.

I managed to set up the server to do something which looks close to a run. Each time I start the server it complains about the missing user-repository.xml file (which is true. it is missing).

I have nowhere found any information how to set up initial accounts (something lioke setting username and passwords of admins allowed to login. I think I know how to set up an existing account as admin) and no documenation about how a user-repository.xml file should look like.

Can anyone point me to this information.

Regards
Martin

Thanks, the problem was indeed the client. None of the two clients had a "register" button. When I tried Gaim on a Linux machine there was indeed a "register" command available, and it worked flawlessly.

Hello,

I am sorry, I am afraid I can't help you as I have never used those 2 clients nor I have ever worked on Mac. Thus I have no experience with this environment.

On the clients I usually use there is an option to register new account at the time when you setup new account details (or new connection to the server).

In fact, after you configure all account details and select to not register new account then there is no option at later time.

So the only point where you can register new account on the server is when you actually register account details. There is a checkbox on Psi for example whether you want to create new account or not.

I need to ask the stupid question here... How do I register an account with a normal jabber client? I'm currently on a Mac, with iChat and Adium, but none of them let me log in to the tigase server I just set up, and I see no obvious button to add a user.

There is no need to do anything about the user-repository.xml file. The thing is it is created automatically when the first account is registered.

This happens the same way as automatic creation of configuration file. You may see the message about missing user repository is a warning not a fatal.

So don't worry about the file, it will be created when you register your first account assuming the server have enough permissions to create file there.
